Acreage Reports It is time again to file your annual acreage report for all crops on you farm. The deadline is July 15, 2010. As well as hay and planted crops, your report needs to include failed acreage and prevented planting acreage. Failed acreage must be reported within 15 days of the disaster event, and prevented planting needs to be reported within 15 days after the final planting date. Crop Loss Reports With the recent cold snap, some may have suffered damages to your crops. Reporting such losses within in 15 days of recognizing a loss is a requirement if you have NAP or crop insurance. Regardless of your insurance coverage, notify your FSA field office, which allows for a complete and accurate loss report. Looking for Candidates for County Committee Nominations for candidates to run for the County Committee election will be accepted through August 2, 2010. Elections will be held in LAA 1 in Androsggin, which includes the towns of Livermore and Turner, and LAA 5 in Sagadahoc County, which includes the towns of Bowdoinham, Topsham, Bath, West Bath, Woolwich, Arrowsic, Georgetown, and Phippsburg. USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service News Introducing our new Zone District Conservationist Lance Gorham, District Conservationist Lance has a Bachelor Degree in Forestry, Masters Degree in Science and Environmental Law and Doctorates in Environmental Biology, Philosophy and Law. He has most recently worked with Natural Resources Conservation Service in Vermont. Lance began his service as the Zone Supervisory District Conservationist in Lewiston December 21, 2009. The zone includes overseeing the work in Androscoggin, Sagadahoc and Oxford Counties. Program News The 2010 sign up deadlines are now behind us and NRCS staff are in the process of taking 2011 program applications for the EQIP Irrigation Incentive and Seasonal High tunnel through September 1, 2010. General sign up for the Wildlife Habitat Improvement Program is also open until September 1, 2010.
